PRISMA 2020 flow diagram generator
Enter identification, removal, screening and inclusion counts. The generator derives totals, flags inconsistent arithmetic and exports SVG or PNG.
Build a PRISMA 2020 flow diagram that checks your arithmetic, convert effect sizes for meta-analysis, and turn your concepts into search strings for seven database/platform outputs and registry prompts. Calculations stay local. Online MeSH lookup and optional AI send research terms only after you approve.
Enter your numbers as you screen. Grey boxes calculate themselves, and anything that does not add up is flagged before a reviewer sees it. Download as SVG for the manuscript or PNG for slides and posters.
Layout follows the PRISMA 2020 flow diagram template (Page MJ, et al. BMJ 2021;372:n71). Your entries are saved in this browser only.
Studies rarely report data the way your meta-analysis needs it. Convert once, record what you did in your extraction notes, and run a sensitivity analysis without the converted studies when the data look skewed.
Start from your research question and get suggested terms from MeSH, a controlled vocabulary used to index MEDLINE records. Then review the terms, and copy draft search strategies for seven database/platform outputs and registry prompts.
Write it the way you would title your review. We split it into concepts and look each one up in MeSH. You can change anything afterwards.
Most reviews search only the population and the intervention. Comparators and outcomes are often missing from titles and abstracts, so searching them can make you miss eligible studies.
Terms within a concept are joined with OR, and concepts are joined with AND. One term per line. Use * for truncation, for example arter*. Embase uses its own vocabulary called Emtree, which is not publicly searchable, so add Emtree headings yourself from inside Embase.
Test every string: each paper you already know should be included must appear in the results. Database syntax changes over time, so check the platform's help page if a string returns zero or millions of records.

InsightMed combines three common evidence-synthesis tasks in one private browser workspace. Outputs remain drafts requiring scientific and information-specialist judgment.
Enter identification, removal, screening and inclusion counts. The generator derives totals, flags inconsistent arithmetic and exports SVG or PNG.
Convert confidence intervals, change-score standard deviations, medians and spread statistics, standard errors, 2×2 tables and combined groups.
Start with a topic or PICO question, review optional MeSH suggestions and produce editable platform-specific search drafts.
| Tool | Outputs | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| PRISMA flow diagram | Arithmetic checks; SVG and PNG | New reviews only; reconciled counts do not prove compliance. |
| Effect-size converter | Eight conversions with validation and source notes | Does not replace statistical review or sensitivity analysis. |
| Search strategy builder | PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, CENTRAL and registries | Verify headings and syntax in the live platform. |
The diagram follows the PRISMA 2020 statement and templates. Statistical conversions follow relevant guidance in Cochrane Handbook Chapter 6. Optional MeSH suggestions use NLM NCBI E-utilities.
This is an independent educational application and is not endorsed by PRISMA, Cochrane or NLM.
A PRISMA 2020 diagram generator, eight statistical converters and a database search strategy builder.
No. Compare the final diagram with the official PRISMA template and reporting guidance.
Core calculations remain in the browser. Approved MeSH or optional AI requests send research terms to the relevant external service.
No. Use the official PRISMA updated-review templates for updated systematic reviews.
